If only there was someone in the church who...

My MIL is in town and staying with us for a few days. Honestly, we all get along well. Last night we got into a bit of a discussion about church stuff - Sam Young, bishop interviews, new book "Saints", etc.
MIL said there are some things that need changing, specifically regarding the 'worthiness interviews'. Without being rude, I commented that every organization will have a few bad apples but most Bishops try their best and are good people. My concern with Bishop interviews isn't with the bishop as an individual, but the organizational leadership and the policies they implement. MIL agreed.
Then I said, "If only there was someone in the church who could speak with a higher divine power and get a little guidance on this issue. Maybe even make a few updates before it becomes a problem." Which she promptly gave me the 1-finger-salute. (We can joke like that, it's OK)
Her response was - "Well, what to do you propose? Are you now a prophet or someone that can fix these things."
I responded "No, of course not. But I'm not claiming to be. I don't have the title of Prophet, Seer and Revelator and I'm not claiming some divinely guided leadership or asking for a sustaining vote of millions of people as such."
She had nothing to come back with.
