DIALOGUE periodical

Look...this is probably in the wrong place, but its an opinion question. Does anyone have any inside scoop on the future of Dialogue? Some of the most bazaar and provocative stuff I've read comes from that source: the whole discussion on contraception; the black priesthood historical information; items about current suicide rates and the LGBT policy; seer stones even....etc.
It is also common it seems for those who publish there to end up on the "Strengthen the Saints Committee" list at COB HQ.
I am curious if anyone has any inside info....

No inside info, but the fact that it's still around since its inception in the late 60's is pretty amazing. If the church wanted to squash it, they're sure taking their sweet time. It would be more likely to die from lack of interest and support from subscribers than any concerted effort of the church, IMO.

Elder Dallin H. Oaks was one of the founding members of Dialogue. He has necessarily distanced himself from it over the past four decades, but is still familiar with it. John Larsen of Mormon Expression has stated that everything you needed to know about how the church is not true came through Dialogue years before the apostate podcasts figured it out. I suspect that certain current and former members of the Q15 have distinctly wished the whole embarrassing enterprise would disappear along with Sunstone.

I recall Bruce McConkie making a passing (disparaging) reference to Dialogue in his letter/reprimand to Eugene England

A small blurb in the Wikipedia about this Committee was a bit chilling:
According to Eugene England, BYU academic vice-president Stan Albrecht resigned in 1992 partly due to "difficulty carrying out university business because of complaints from BYU religion faculty about other faculty members' writings, made to the Strengthening Church Members Committee". England had known others affected by SCMC activities, some seeing their files, which in one case contained newspaper clippings about being a Young Democrat in college.[4]

The SCMC article and link are interesting.
I bet Grant Palmer had a big file....thats for sure. Michael Quinn certainly did as well.
