Nephew's wedding

Post by Jinx »

My nephew is getting married this summer. This is the first Mormon experience in my family since we left the church. My brother knows we're out and was expecting us not to attend the temple ceremony, but I hadn't talked to my mom too deeply about it. So I kind of slipped it into a phone conversation yesterday, trying to take the bull by the horns in advance so there wouldn't be any drama to spoil the big day.

Her reply was "I kind of assumed that. You don't even have a recommend anymore, do you?" So yeah, that was easy. Hooray for openness! That was the last hurdle that I was dreading. Apparently I've made my feelings clear enough, and my feelings are respected. What a relief.

No guarantee that the topic won't come up again, but I can handle it. And I respect my mom a little more today.

Congrats!

What are you giving for a wedding gift?

May I suggest a nice duo of home decor with a pair of framed copies of the proclamation AND the oral sex ban letter?

You could make it a framed trio and add the Nauvoo essay.
