I'd like to take this opportunity to stand before you and publicly thank you for all the support given freely here.
(Alright, I suck at TBM speak).

For the most part, things have been going pretty good at the Korihor home. Mrs. Kori continues her slow burnout from the church. Sometimes I complain how tough it is, but when I look back, she's come a long way. Thank you to everyone for your support in ups and downs of this journey. You all have kept me sane and significantly increased the probability of my marriage remaining intact.

A few recent highlights:
Mrs Kori says she is republican and right winged because that's what you're supposed to be as a Mormon. However, she is letting her true colors show more and more lately. I told her "So you're a bleeding heart liberal?" to which she said Yes. I think she is going through her own liberation, but it was different than mine - rightfully so. Everyone is unique with different hot buttons. It's a learning process to realize this and break away from conformity based culture.

Church attendance seems to ebb and flow. She doesn't want to go nearly as much but can't yet stop completely.

We are looking at couples counseling. I'm rather hesitant of this because it's not gone well for me in the past. This time might be improved since we have a new set of rules to play by.

Our families aren't pressuring us as much anymore regarding church stuff, which is nice. However Mrs Kori posts stuff on Facebook that lets her liberal feminism shine and it seems to cause a little concern in her mom.

That's all for now. Hopefully, things can remain quiet for a bit and our transition will move to the next level.

I think that what you are doing is very healthy. I remember being in the drudges of daily NOM-hood with an active spouse. It is very difficult, and I didn't often enough step back and realize where I was and where I am now.

I think we can all learn from this post, and not just in the realm of Mormonism.

You've lost the light in your eyes and it shows in your countenance.

You've come a long way in a really short amount of time. A lot of us are secretly jealous that your together with your wife on this journey out. I'm too often the voice of caution and over worry (as you know given my recent trip to Circle K) but I would remind anyone reading this that too often couples that leave together often end up divorced later. Most likely as a result of finding out the church was the real glue that held them together and they were not compatible or found new interests outside of the marriage/church.

So take your time to rebuild your commitment together and focus on new and fun things that will strengthen your bond. I'm not sure why I'm writing this since you've heard this 100 times before. I think the marriage counseling will be good for you both.

Good reminder for all of us. I don't think my spouse will ever not be TBM. But he has no issues at all with me being NOM. He'd prefer not ex though which is ok....what I think I'd really enjoy is inactive . Our marriage isn't perfect but we have lots of strengths and good parts and I appreciate the reminder to remember and focus on those.
