That must be it. I'm expecting his avatar to change over to Hades with his hair on fire any moment.

I just saw you Facebook posts and was reminded of what you're going through this weekend. Don't worry bud. It will be over soon.
Re: Aaaaahhhhh
The lesson in SS and combined EQ/RS was painful. Really, it's soon hard to get through.
My parents were visiting and wanted to go to church as a whole big family, it's special for my mom so we obliged.
I don't plan on going back for a while.

Re: Aaaaahhhhh- UPDATE
So yesterday the whole Korihor family goes to church. My folks were in town and they came with us. Actually, the primary reason we went to church is because my mom wanted go. She knows my position and she knows Mrs Kori has significant reservations as well. That being said, we respect my folks and so we all go. Overall, it really was just another regular Sunday. My upsetedness was just the normal getting pissed off at most everything.
SM was dreadful. It was regarding repentance and they talked about all the normal TBM stuff how we have to earn forgiveness and confess to Jesus and BP all our naughty things. I wrote Mrs Kori during SM that this the exact harmful ideas I don't want to expose my kids to.
Then, a couple in our ward had a musical number. She played the piano and he sang "Come thou fount of every blessing". He truly has a beautiful voice and was a moving performance. Then they started talking again I told Mrs Kori it's simply a Juvenile mentality that is so hard to keep talking about seriously.
SS was OK. Honestly, I tuned out most of it. It was about how awesome it is to prophets for revelation (WTH does Monson reveal today, or ever has revealed? Lowering the missionary age, WOW!!! )
Then, since it was 5th Sunday, it was combined men and women. The RSP gave a lesson on the light of christ. I wanted to punch her in the face (still do, actually). It was the most non-sensical superfluous garbage I've heard in a while. The light of christ keeps the planets in their orbits, it is the light and power of the sun, it helps us decide to do make righteous decisions, it is the power of good in the world and resides in the heart of every person. It's both a physical light and a spiritual light simultaneously. But we don't know exactly how it works and it's one of god's mysteries, but it's really awesome and everyone has it. W.T.H.?
She then turns off all the lights, it's dark it the gym. Turns on a little flashlight and says "see, no matter how dark it is, you can always see even the tiniest light in the dark. It's like being in primary again.
Then we talk about how it never went dark the night jesus was born, at least in the America's. Then it was dark for three days when he died. They conveniently failed to mention you couldn't see a candle in that darkness #ConfirmationBias and the darkness obscured all light. #DarknessWonOne
Now switch to the "gift of the holy ghost" - This super awesome because you're Mormon and the holy ghost is always with you. Unless you do anything to offend him then he takes off and you're just like any other heathen. All of a sudden the conversation switches tone from 'the whole world is great, everyone has the light of christ' to "only we have the true spirit, those infidels have a false happiness" It's a bunch of self-back-patting as people see Mormons as having a special happiness that glows to all the world. Apparently, when in Jerusalem and near the BYU center, the local can easily distinguish the visiting Mormons from everyone else because they are sooooo happy looking.
Now the icing on the cake. The world is getting much more darker and evil. Pres Kimball said how bad it was in the 70's and now look at it! Mormons are the guardians of true virtue and happiness, everyone else is unknowingly unhappy and unkind and just wants to sin.
I raise my hand and say "Actually, the world has never been better. Education, equal rights, wars, health care, all of it is better than ever. Maybe the light of christ is making the world a better place right now.' Lot's of hurumphing after I stir that pot.
After class ends, one guy comes up and tries to tell me how much wickedness really is out there. He's seen it. I should be careful because darkness is growing and the pending battle is coming. I say, "sure, there will always be darkness, but things are better now than ever. He even admits teen pregnancies are down but still, it's really bad out there. We politely exchange words, but he doesn't want me going away thinking the world is a better place. Someone else I want to punch in the face.
finally, church ends and we go home to eat BBQ.
I'm really bothered by it all. I never want to go back. But if I do, I will be even more of a pot stirrer than before.
sorry, probably lots of typo's and incoherent sentences. I'm furiosly typing away and didn't do much editing.

Re: Aaaaahhhhh
Love your sufferage Korihor.
Funny thing happened to me Sunday. My son decided to pop popcorn and take it to church for SM. He added a lot of garlic salt. So, I talk to a few people before SM starts and then sit on my bench. I immediately smell garlic. Strong. My son is watching a movie on Amazon Video and eating popcorn.
I'm embarrassed but inside I'm secretly wishing I could do that.

Re: Aaaaahhhhh
Korihor, thanks for sharing. I know you've been having struggles with your wife, but the fact that she is on board with your feelings on the church makes your situation so much better than it could be.
My wife has held her tongue and let me do my thing, which is more than I ever would have expected, but I'm coming to realize she doesn't truly understand me. I'm not sure she ever will, and it hurts.
While your story above sounds like a sucky experience, the great part of this story is that you were able to express your concerns to your wife. When I do this with mine, her standard response, "Yes, I agree that this is troubling/could be better explained/doesn't make sense, but [standard apologetic nonsense], and I want our son to have a relationship with the Holy Ghost." Considering my lack of ever once feeling the "Holy Ghost" in a church context, and this being hugely troubling to me from primary all the way to adulthood, a huge shelf item that made me feel like less of a person than those around me, this is hugely triggering for me. We're setting our kid up for all the guilt and shame and self-hatred that the church imposed on me. And I can't do a damn thing to stop it.
