Did McConkie do more harm than good.....

Did Bruce R. McConkie do more harm than good in the LDS Church? When I was growing up "Mormon Doctrine" was the go to source for settling any gospel disagreement. McConkie was quoted often, and after Joseph Fielding Smith died, he was considered by many to be THE greatest scriptural and doctrinal teacher in the Church. As people my age drift into dotage  he is mentioned less and less. I can't find his Mormon Doctrine book in Deseret Book or even the D.I.'s I visit. I admired McConkie's black or white thinking until my shelf broke, and then I saw how shallow and prideful his approach was. Revisiting talks by McConkie, Packer, and Mark Peterson was a shelf crusher.
He did confess publicly at BYU that he had spoken with limited knowledge, but then he turned on his audience and basically said, "Get in line."
Does anyone else see any benefit the Church got out of McConkie in the years he was a major player, or after?

I do believe that McKonkie, Joseph Fielding Smith, Boyd Packer, Mark E Petersen, and Dallin HOaks have done more harm than good…and this Pearson fellow is really working hard to join the list.

And let's not forget sweet little Spencer Kimball and his loving message about faith and miracles.

What does Elder Pearson say that would put him on the McConkie, Packer, Oaks list?

For a good expose of the McConkie Experience, it would be worth watching the RFM podcast Hey, You Mormon Kids! Stop Worshiping Jesus!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xyA5KvivUdk

In it, he recounts the terrible way that Elder McConkie treated Professor Pace at BYU for the sake of the fascist theology cooked up by him and his father-in-law, Joseph Fielding Smith.

It's good that the only thing he is officially celebrated for now is writing a single hymn, but all the bad things he did live on.

It seems like, with an entire world of billions and billions of people to choose from, Jesus shouldn't have so much trouble finding 15 guys who are decent, honest, loving human beings. I would be happy to introduce him to a few people.

He has said lots of things such as to youth not to pray about going on a mission. The decision is already made:

Older couples should spend their retirement in serving multiple missions:
