"Does DW Drink Coffee?"

Once when preparing for a birthday for DW I asked around for gift advice. One of my nieces, just out of high school, had some great suggestions, and one of them surprised me. She suggested I get DW some fancy coffee for her birthday. The idea broke my brain, and my niece sensed something was amiss and quickly added, "oh wait, does DW drink coffee? Maybe something else then..." and moved on to other ideas.

This niece is TBM as far as I know, and lives in Utah County like all of my family. The way she said it was like everyone drinks coffee and she was surprised that DW didn't. I have read that Gen Z mormons have little patience for the coffee restrictions, but this was my first time actually seeing it.

I am jealous at how much of an afterthought coffee seemed to be to her. Maybe next year I'll get there.

It could be that Gen Z kids scoff at the idea of the coffee and tea plants being cursed as less valiant for growing too close to the demilitarized zone during the Heaven War. Had Joseph embraced empiricism he could have decerned by taste, that the most likely plants to have their valiancy contaminated were licorice and star anise. Durian fruit would also have trouble passing the smell test.

As far as ultra valiancy goes, baklava was undoubtedly the field commander in charge of pastries for Jesus during the Heaven War. Hope that helps in terms of extending the mystery meat of Mormon lore.

I’ve been to the Dutch Bros in Provo with my daughter.

The line spilled down the street and there were plenty of BYU stickers on nearly every car.

I’d have to assume that recent talk on coffee suggesting any drink ending in “chino” was against the word of wisdom was a direct shot at the youth.

We should start a campaign similar to Ordain Women to legalize coffee!

#Make Mormons Caffeinated Again!
#LegalizeCoffee!

...
I have a (TBM?) relative who's "Favorite Place" is Dutch Bros.

Nope, I haven't had the intestinal fortitude to ask the what their favorite beverage from Dutch Bros is. I guess I just need to take the trip to Dutch Bros with them and let them order first.

Then again, there's always the old joke: Never take just one MORmON fishing...
