Bishop Graey?

Post by Red Ryder »

Graey,

You mentioned in my other post you were on the short list for Bishop.

I think that is awesome because your an awesome guy and could lead your congregation with a loving hand and exhort shallow testimonial direction.

Please reconsider your “NO”.

We could take up a donation campaign and collect funds that you could in turn donate to as your personal tithing. Think how fast you could jump to the head of the potential bishop list if you were to donate another $20-30K this year.

Think of the stories you could tell here at NOM.

Bishop Graey sounds wonderful!

Think of the children you wouldn’t have to expose to worthiness interviews.

Think of your children and imagine how proud they would be with you in charge and whispers behind their back. To be called “the bishops kids” is an honor and spotlight no other kids will share with them.

Think of the social clout your wife will have with her new found “Bishop’s wife” label and associated hatred by the rest of the relief society sisters. The primary ladies will still lover her

Think of the 5 grueling long years and the thousands of hours you’ll have to commit to the church free of charge. Don’t let that get you down though. The blessings will be worth it.

Think of all the fun you’ll have reporting your labors up to the stake president all the while getting guilted to feel you haven’t done enough.

Think about all the NOM’s who could send their records to your ward and hide out free and clear all because your ward clerk was told by you to ignore. Think of the safe harbor benefits for people like me.

Think about it man.

When did they stop paying bishops and SPs? I don’t think I would make a very good bishop...I would be fired when I’d call an all women Sunday School Presidency and used tithing and fast offering funds to hire a janitor.

Haha. I wasn't expecting to be called out on this! At this point, this is all just an over-exuberant member's speculation.

To your point about the tithing collection - while that would likely move me to the head of the pack - once they look at my meager (practically $0) tithing payments over the past year, I'll certainly be out of the running and possibly even released as EQP! 8-)

Sorry, RR. A lot of good could be done by a NOM bishop, but I sincerely doubt that I'll ever really get the chance to make the choice. I was really just attempting to commiserate on paths not taken.
Well, I'm better than dirt! Ah, well... most kinds of dirt; not that fancy store-bought dirt; that stuff is loaded with nutrients. I can't compete with that stuff. -Moe Sizlack

I was mostly tongue in cheek for the entertainment value. You’re one of the good guys who has’nt just quit yet like I have.

The best bishops are the ones who leave people like me alone and take a real interest in their active members well being. Tending to your active flock and leaving alone the sheep who want to grow up and see the real world.

I’ll keep www.BishopG.com reserved in the event you change your mind.

I’m still hanging on to www.BishopFluffy.com and www.PresidentCorsair.com so another web domain squat won’t hurt my pocketbook.

If you stay in the running, you can always tell them you want to pick sister (whomever) to be your executive secretary, and another sister to be one of your two counselors.
