Proclamations and Manifestos

I was listening to the Gospel Tangents podcast. One of the recent sets of episodes was an interview with Taylor Petrey. He holds a degree from Harvard Divinity School and was talking about the recent history of homosexuality and Mormonism. You can find the interview here: https://gospeltangents.com/2020/08/.
A lot was stuff I had heard before, though he clarified some of the context around the Proclamation on the Family. Something I never knew was that there was a "Family Manifesto" written by a Christian organization in 1993, about 2 years before the Proclamation was released. It is longer, but you can see the influence it had on the Proclamation. It lacks the Mormonanities of pre-existence and eternal families, of course. But you can see how the church wanted to be a part of this larger movement, in my opinion. Unfortunately for the church, the leaders chose a losing movement.
Anyway, you can read the Manifesto here: https://www.familylife.com/aboutus/the- ... manifesto/.
