Missionary Shirt Change?

Just got a ping from KSL that the LDS church will allow different shift color.
"On Friday, the church announced in a news release that Area Presidencies will have the ability to adjust missionary attire in specific locations to improve and continue 'missionary dignity, safety, effectiveness, approachability and cultural sensitivity.'"
I've completely lost my testimony at this point!

Because: The color of shirt that the male members of the sales-force for LD$-Inc. wears is really the most important thing that Elohim could focus on right now. Nothing else in the world could be more important at this moment in time.

The creator of the entire freakin' universe. Not just one measly little planet. Has nothing better to talk to us about than the color of the shirts missionaries wear.
I guess he did inspire his prophet to tell us racism is bad a few days ago, so there's that I guess.

You can tell this image was put together by the Church PR department. Besides the attire what message are they trying to convey to the general public?

All elders will continue to wear a white shirt and tie and, in some areas, a suit coat when attending the temple, Sunday worship services, leadership and zone conferences, missionary training centers, baptismal services and other church meetings.

Interesting that none of the pictures show a blue shirt AND no tie, even though they know that will be the preferred option. Mormons seem to go immediately to the greatest extreme they are allowed. If the church were to allow suddenly remove coffee from the WoW it would fly off Utah store shelves like toilet paper in a pandemic. Members would take it as their prophetic obligation to follow the prophet by drinking as much coffee as possible.
Given this change, will any missionaries anywhere ever choose to wear a long-sleeved white shirt with a tie again except in situations where it is required?
How much do you want to bet that now missionaries will be just as easily identified everywhere as the tie-less guys in button up, short sleeve blue shirts? The new uniform.
In my mission we used to get mistaken for Immigration agents. Now they will be mistaken for postal workers.

In my mission, the white-shirt/tie and name tag was like wearing a target on your back. I remember one of the most incessant and difficult things of my mission was the inability to "unwind". Why?....because in my mission, we were required to wear our whites whenever we left the flat,...including on PDay.
I saw missionaries crack under the pressure. Getting spit at, chased, harassed all the time was difficult to handle for 2 years. And then there were the masochist elders who kept track of how many times they were spit on so they could show others how they were "persecuted for the name of Christ".
The whole thing is cult.
I think the church is doing this to help KEEP missionaries on their missions. Someone went out and finally acknowledge that setting people apart (so they could be a target) wasn't the best strategy for keeping them there. So, I think this has nothing to do with making the Elders more approachable. I think it has EVERYTHING to do with trying to ease up on the target factor.

Is it just me or do the kids these days have it too easy?
Cell phones and iPads.
Emails
No tracting
Sister’s can wear pants.
Can call home every week.
Come home early.
Now Shirt color choices?
What’s next? Shorts?
3 month assignments?
Back in my day we had to ride our bikes uphill both ways in ties and suit coats just to check the mail, repeatedly get a door shut in our face, and be home for curfew by 9 pm, and secretly masturbate.

I wore a blue shirt and no tie to our first sacrament meeting back post covid-19. Feeling pretty comfortable about that after this announcement. Masks are the new ties. [emoji1787]

How was the Sacrament handled? Did all handlers wear masks and gloves? Did they pass around open trays to everyone or did those in the pews pass the trays to one another?

Yes, gloves and masks, spacing for the cups in the trays, separate tray for cup disposal, spacing for the bread pieces on trays, empty benches in between members so the deacon could pass to everyone individually. It was pretty extensive. Wipes were provided to members to wipe down benches when the meeting concluded.
Once a month, 30 minutes in duration, split up by alphabet into smaller groups.

Seems like a practical idea to me. Any positive change is good.
