The whole Battle Star Galactica saga has been playing on Syfi tv. One of the places they talk about is Kobol or the Gods of Kobol.
Sounds eerily similar to Kolob. What day ye BSG fans?

It was clever how the Battle Star Galactica creator disguised the Brethren as the Cylons, letting only their actions be the giveaway.

There's an episode where some white-robed aliens in a crystalline temple-like spaceship perform an eternal marriage for two of the characters. When asked who they are they reply, "As you are we once were. As we are you may become."

And the Mormon nerds are bouncing off the walls.

Is this original series Kobol or new Kobol?

Kobol, Council of 12, Cain, Lucifer, 12 tribes, lost tribe, promised lands. Oh yeah, this creator was Mormon.

I can't remember, but did the original series present the humans as polytheists or monotheists? The latest version had the Cylons as the monotheists, and the humans worshiping multiple Egyptian style gods. Frack on that mormons!

Watch the original 1978 Battlestar Galactica series. There is TONS of Mormon references in it. Everything from Kobol/Kolob, The leadership is the Quorum of 12, and one episode even flat out quotes the King Follet Discourse.

Are we sure the creator is just not a computer geek who likes old-school programming languages?

That early Battlestar Galactica was one of the signs that we were the One True Church. What other denomination had a cool sci-fi TV show? Not the Jehovah's Witnesses or the Catholics!
