Twitter Mormonism

I'm a twitter lurker and it is usually a good experience. I've mostly found my silo and avoid reading too far down on a twitter thread to avoid the inevitable trolling that occurs. Some of the sports people I follow are devout mormons, so occasionally the algorithm leaves me a gift of a testimony, or faith defending post. Coronavirus and GenCon have provided some particularly cringe-worthy moments. They really bother me, and it is cathartic to share, so here they are!
To the lady who "must be the only one to do this weird thing" and decided to dress up Sunday, way to go. Saying that it just makes you more comfortable and that you aren't judging anyone doesn't help. I'm glad that no one attacked you and the 50 other people doing it who also posted their photos, because that is lame, but your compulsive Sunday dress is not something you should be proud of. Get help.
To the jack mormon who smokes, drinks, has tattoos, and swears like a sailor but is still so grateful for GenCon messages and knows the church is true, good job feeding a trope to the TBMs, they really appreciate it. But as a counterpoint, I don't smoke, nor drink, nor do I have tattoos, and I don't typically swear. In fact I would still fit in pretty well in an EQP or BP, but I feel real pain from GenCon, and I don't think the church is "true", nor very helpful. I think it does significant harm where it could do much good.
And to my parents who have decided that this is the time to start sending spiritual emails and recommend crazy youtube videos, please stop. Let's bond over what we have in common, and respect the differences that will drive a wedge between us.
