Goodbye Garments

I bought 5 more non-religious undershirts so now I have enough to never run out and have to revert to wearing the garments. This goes along with my many pairs of heathen underwear. I was surprised by the mixed feelings I got as I took the remaining garments out of my drawer and stuck them in the box in the closet with all the other garments.
I joined NOM in Nov 2015 and it has been a long road to get here. I think the sadness at putting the garments away came from feeling like it's really over (I get emotional when I finish a kids cartoon series, so I guess this shouldn't be a surprise). I thought I was past that, but I guess not.
The shirts are amazing though,
Mr. Davis bamboo based undershirts; super comfy. It's really fun getting to explore new fabrics and cuts. Better than going from large cotton-poly to extra-large cotton-poly...

Congrats. It’s a big emotional relief to finally toss them out. Or I guess put them in the closet.
What’s with Mormons keeping their old garments in a box/bag in the closet?
In case Jesus comes back and we have to throw them on and look busy?
Take another step and throw them in the trash can with the symbols in tact.

My plan has always been to unceremoniously throw them in the trash, as you suggest. I keep them in a box in the closet for DW for now. And I may keep a pair or two handy in case I need them to baptize my youngest in a couple years.

Excellent ! Congratulations on taking this important step forward.
Any time that a phase of one's life comes to a close and a new chapter opens, it's natural to feel some loss. We are leaving what is familiar to us, what was part of us, and now we have to go on to new, uncharted territory. It is like stepping out onto the frontier. You have done extremely well ! Best wishes on your continuing journey to freedom and enlightenment.

That's what I did.
When I first stopped wearing them I thought it would be therapeutic to have a bonfire and watch them all burn. Then over time I realized that burning them was what they wanted you to do to dispose of them.
Just throwing them in the trash like I do with all other garbage was ultimately way better for me than a bonfire or doing something else special to dispose of them.

Congrats!
When I went back to normal underwear it felt so nice - not just comfortable, but I could feel the culty nature of the garments just leave my body.
i think DW still has my garments packed away somewhere... I'd love to just toss them in a dumpster somewhere, but i don't even know where she put them!

I thought about donating my intact to a Goodwill/Savers/Salvation Army.
Congrats!
I haven't worn garments at all for over a month now. It feels amazing, both emotionally and physically.

Hey Linked,
How did your wife react when you stopped wearing your g's? I wonder if our wives would actually like us more without g's? (sexier right?)
Congrats!

She wasn't super pumped for a few months when I first stopped wearing them. The first time I think she cried. I went pretty slow, first buying a couple pair of underwear and still wearing the top. Then buying more underwear and replacing garment bottoms more days of the week. I found some white undershirts I like and started swapping those for the garment tops. She hasn't cried about it for a long time, but she still seems a little grumpy when I get a package of heathen unders.
In my situation my DW is not hopeful I will change back into a TBM, but she is very concerned with the consequences of me being non-TBM publicly. So as long as I play the part well enough publicly then she has been able to get over what I do privately.
My DW is not the pursuer at all, so if she likes my new look I wouldn't know. I am in decent shape, but ~30 pounds too much shape, and she is not into bellys. I think I look sexy in them!
