A freshman student at Brigham Young University-Idaho said she was surprised to learn that a recent art project went too far by showing exposed female shoulders.
Oregon native Waverly Giles said she received a score of zero out of 100 on her photos for a lower-division humanities class.
The photos showed a female subject with colorful paint on her face and were cropped just beneath the woman's collarbone. ------------->

Reminds me of the time when the Provo school rejected the traveling artwork statues of Rodin's
The Kiss because they felt it was too racy. BYU administrators being unfamiliar with his famous work
The Thinker, assumed the statue was a guy sitting on a toilet.

We don't exaggerate Mormons' prudishness when we say "porn shoulders", it seems.

I checked if the article was satire from "The Onion" in case someone was having a laugh at the expense of Mormons. No, this is a real story. Once again, the LDS church is its own worst enemy.

The young lady Wavrly Giles from BYU-I that received that bad grade. Her grandmother is Bonnie Oscarson. What a small world! I wonder what the presidency of the church thinks about all this?

The story does indeed have an
Onionesque quality to it. Personally, I rather liked the photo. Much better than some of the exhibits in the Museum of Modern Art. BYU-I may be a good place for reading, writing, and arithmetic but apparently not so good with expanding the horizons of consciousness.

Her teacher must not be endowed. The temple video is at least that revealing. I will admit that as a young missionary in the MTC that was pretty distracting to the spirit. I guess I can see their point

They are thinking that she should put on a frickin' shirt. These are
literally old school leaders and the leadership of BYU-I made an Honor Code to out-virtue signal those slackers down in Provo. This will put the expected chill on freedom of (shoulder) expression on the art students and I don't necessarily expect further boundary pushing at BYU-I.
