The Brighamite Church in Salt Lake City is much larger than any spin-offs from the early Mormonism. Does this prove that most members have a size preference? Does it disprove the common assertion that it is not the size of the prophet that matters, but what he does with his prophecies?

I think size was less important than the prophylactic tactics used by Brigham to cut off communication by the other branches with the European and English converts. Thus he funneled the unwitting converts on to the west after controlling the missionary force and commandeering church printing capabilities.

It's not the size of the church. It's the motion of the devotion. Joseph and Brigham seemed to understand that point very well.

It' all fulfillment of prophesy. D&C 4:4 "lo, he that thrusteth in his sickle with all his might..."
