DW is taking the challenge to read BoM

My wife decided to take Nelson's challenge. She hasn't read the book of mormon for a while. Anyway, I told her to make notes about the scriptures she liked, similar to what I did for her during my faith crisis.
So, last week she was reading the violent story of Nephi beheading Laban. She turns to me and asked how Nephi could have put on Labans bloody clothes and not be noticed.
I told her, yep, it's a hole in the story. Left it at that.
There might be hope she sees more issues as she reads.

Simple, it was a minor mix up in the sequence of events that night. Nephi found Laban drunk, took off his armor clothes, took his keys and THEN cut his head off.
Problem solved, no bloody clothes.

But, but, but... the BoM is the MOST correct book on Earth. Surely, it doesn't have any mix-ups!
PS - Yes, I called you Surely.

Maybe the clothes were bloodied and he was noticed and had to make a great escape and ran through the streets of Jerusalem like a mad man running from The Terminator.
He just didn't write about it on the plates.
Don't be skeptical.

The get-out-of-jail-free card for apologetics is god magic.
Me: Wouldn't the servants of Laban have seen all the blood all over Laban's clothes when he went back for the plates of brass?
Apologist: Uh-uh 'cuz, 'cuz, the same magicialisticness that made him's face look like Laban, also made tha' clothes not look all bloody and stuff.
Me: Then why bother with the clothes at all, just go in the threads you're already wearing and let the god-magic do its stuff?
Apologist: You're a poo-poo head and you master-baits a lot!
Me: Ok, we're done here.
Apologist: See! that's 'cuz I'm right!

Leaving the naked, headless body of a prominent city official dead in the street is no problem at all, apparently.

Love the replies.
Just wanted to update. Wife was reading tonight, I sat next to her watching TV. She finishes reading, puts her BoM away, looks over at me and says: "I'm sorry, it's just too boring". I replied: "No need to be sorry, it really is boring"
I asked her how her list of things she likes in it is coming and she hasn't even started one.
Hopefully more progress! Yay for the BoM reading challenge!

I have always felt that the best way to lose your testimony is to honestly study the book of mormon for what it says as opposed to what is taught in sunday school.
But sadly to say most mormons actually just read it as a ritual. 10 minutes here or there and then move on. They actually don't study for its doctrine. Heads up. It's not what is taught in sunday school. They don't read it for its prophecies. Heads up. They don't come to pass for an prophecies after the book is published.
I wish they all would take their faith more seriously.
Good luck with your wife.
