I guess I missed it because I was in another room rolling joints or worshiping the devil or something.

Yeah but it's just the women right? Men are allowed on social media? It's still a win, since most guys don't post stupid conference memes and "I just love listening to the living prophet" garbage.

I think this is the opportunity to.post a whole bunch of snarky memes about Rusty and DHO on Instagram since no Mormon women can respond!

Maybe it is like one of those liquid diets designed to cleanse the system and get rid of unwanted PewDiePie that has been clogging your digestive tract.
This is not to insinuate that a lack of information assists Mormonism. So go ahead and put down your Deseret News, turn off KSL-TV, and avoid the Mormon D&D board and LDS.org.

It’s probably to isolate members from the fallout from President Oak’s asinine talk.

Somebody should put a reminder out to all the groups in 10 days to repost everything...
Anyway, all the women on the fast have to do in 10 days is look back at their history to see what they missed. I think the point was to get more control, he wants them to focus on the BoM, and the church for 10 days. Nelson is the new Simon playing Simon Says with the church. Will be interesting to see how long this lasts. I can imagine many of his employees in the COB are slowly getting annoyed.

Now is the day of his power. He rules from North Temple to the ends of the mission field.

Well, the TBMs in my life have already failed to keep their fast. Two did because they were so excited about a temple being built in their old mission area and just had to share. And we are doing some family get together planning on Facebook, so that will help keep them all involved. So much for follow the prophet when he has no clue that modern life is totally tied up in social media.

You can't ask men to quit porn cold turkey...

This has been quite annoying for DW! Not the part of fasting from social media, because she's out from under COB rules. She's been annoyed by all the posts from TBM friends and family on FB and IG, about their fasting from posting. It's like they are apologizing to the world because it will somehow suffer from their absence. Most of their comments were something along the lines of how grateful they were to take a break for 10 days and for a living prophet to help guild them and help bless their families. It comes across as so annoying and pious. Gag!
Do they really think somebody out there is going to panic and call search and rescue because they haven't posted their kitsch, food, cliches and pious conference comments for 10 days? That is a sad state of social existence in my book. I haven't been on FB for several years. On Instagram, the thousands of outdoor and wildlife photographers I follow and that follow me do not give a crap if I post pics several times per day or haven't posted for months, nor do I give a crap when or how often they post. I do give a crap if they post anything that's kitsch, food, or pious religious cliches; that typically leads to a quick unfollow.

YES!!! I am seriously having to talk myself down bc my mormon friends (the ones I haven't unfollowed) are all posting "I will be off fb/instagram for the next 10 days. If you need to get a hold of me then send a txt or email. We can do hard things!!" SERIOUSLY--you think people who actually need to get in touch with you don't know how to call/txt/email you?? They just respond to your posts and hit like to communicate?? Just SHUT. UP.

DW guessed that with the latest lawsuits against the church, it is to keep people off social media while they are big in the headlines critical to the church. When the come back, the church is hoping that attention will have died down. In doing so, they hope that they can avoid a measure of member questions.

This would be good link to post in as a response to all those TBMs posting their huge 10 day social media sacrifice to the world:

I'm actually glad they did a socal media fasting.
1) It's funny - who else on this planet knows what Social Media fast is?
2) It's helping me clean up Fbook. I try not to get on there much, but this is making it easier to know who to defriend.
3) More time to drink beer. Not sure how this applies, but hell, any reason is a good reason to drink another cold one.

Oh hell yes! In fact, while the gals were being told to take a break for 10 days, DW and I were sipping on some new spirits I bought from a small distillery in West Valley: Kid Curry. They have sweet Vanilla Caramel flavored and Peach Flavored vodkas. Two days earlier I was invited to Red Rock Brewery for an early tasting of their new Belgian style ale Paardebloem. It's been a good week for new brews and spirits! Praise Jebus!

Speaking of social media, the Mormon D&D board is considering a name change due to the Mormon purge. They may soon be known as the Board on Temple Square.

It's possible church leaders are paying attention to the budding consensus that too much screen time can be bad for us:
https://digest.bps.org.uk/2018/10/02/re ... reen-time/
The study suggests that the sharp increase in youth suicide in the US since 2012 is probably at least partly caused by increased use of smartphones in the US since 2012.
In case anyone has a great need to vilify church leaders
even if this is the reason for the social media fast, I'll point out that they tend to take prophetic credit when they don't deserve it.

This is going to create a bit of a headache for some people. My wife coordinates Activity Days pretty much all through facebook because all the moms are on there and it is convenient for group communication. Yes, there are other ways to do this, but its kind of a pain to make the switch for 10 days.
