Did the apostles set up an "I'm a Mormon" campaign pages? Surely there was a page that said:

I'm Russell M. Nelson. I'm a world famous heart surgeon and I'm a Mormon.

The "I'm a Mormon" campaign is still largely accessible. I wonder how soon it will be disappearing since such an idea "deeply offends God" and "gives a major victory to Satan".

What's funny is by ratcheting up the whole 'nicknames are evil!" rhetoric it puts previous comments and campaigns into an interesting position. If being called Mormon is a victory for Satan then Christ's supposed church engaged in a major media campaign for and in behalf of Satan. In short, if being called Mormon is evil the church and it's highest leaders were actively engaged in that evil. So the more harrowing you try to paint being called Mormon the larger the caliber gun you are using to shoot yourself in the foot.

It's nearly impossible to point out the absurdity of this. Last night when family got together for game night they all started to go goo goo over the prophet and the nick names bit. I simply asked why if this was such a big revelatory deal, why had Monson and Hinckley not pushed for it.

The reply was, "They did! don't you remember when...."

I'm going to go stick my head in the sand now!

That's interesting, because it annoys my husband to no end. He was going on and on about how dumb it is that God suddenly cares about the name but didn't for the past however many years.
