Creative ways to get out of conference

A few years ago, my family went to visit grandparents in a highly Tbm area. We forgot it was GC weekend. My other siblings and their families were there too. We were trapped. We were stuck watching Saturday and Sunday GC. My kids were furious with me over their immense boredom. My siblings kids didn't seem to mind. It is now a big joke in our family and nobody wants a repeat.
What ideas do you have for visiting TBMs and not watching GC?

Slip outside and knock the satellite dish out of alignment.
Need to take care of some shopping (clothes, food, major appliances, etc)
"Car trouble" that needs fixed ASAP so you can safety drive home.

We went and visited my family for easter (which of course meant GC this year) about six weeks after I had messaged everyone to tell them I'd left the church. On Saturday and Sunday mornings I just got up 30 minutes or so before conference, showered and dressed, and went to Starbucks. 3yo asked where I was going, I told her, she elected to go with. The big kids played video games all day. Kalikala went with me on Sunday and then to Kohl's.
I just didn't ask permission for anything. I told people where I was going and invited them to come along if they'd like.

Bring along a video game system and set it up on the main TV. Let your kids start playing about an hour before conference starts. When the time comes, coach your kids to say that they can't stop playing because they need to reach a save point. Have them keep that up anytime someone asks to change channels. until conference is over.
Make sure you invite the other TBM kids to play as well.

1. Open your wallet
2. Look at your driver's license.
2. If it says you are 21 or older, and you don't want to watch 10 + hours of old guys trying to guilt trip you, then don't.

10 hours is enough time to read "Enlightenment Now". A book about how the world is now a better world in every measurable and important way. If you must be in the room with them, just read the book. There are lots of charts and graphs you can share with your TBM family.
I just read it on flights this week. Loved it.
Here is his TED talk if you want the 18 minute version.

New trails basically in your back yard? Dust off the old mountain bike.

What would be good is if I could get the picture in picture to work, and then have both GC and football on at the same time.
I like the idea to make the satellite dish fail. Somehow make it only work for football would be nice.
