Just finished this last night with my DW. Holy crap! Have any of you watched this?

Granted, Scientology is on a different level of cult relative to Mormonism, but there are so many crazy similarities between the two.

Watched it a couple months ago with my husband. He finds a lot of stories like this interesting, does not appear to internalize the messages as being anything like Mormonism. If there is one thing about the church that can get him going it is BYU and the lack of financial transparency, so the whole bit about the IRS and the amounts of money Scientology has, etc. he was making some parallels with.

Overall, it's just so, so sad. It's so unfortunate that so many people, so many of us, our families, have clung or are clinging to our "prison of belief" and are so miserable, but that misery is all in our own minds.

It's been a while since I watched this, which was when Game of Thrones Season 7 was on. I do remember that there were a lot of simularities between Scientology and Mormonism. Sometime I thing it would be interesting to re-watch it make a lift of everything I can spot.

A few ones that I remember:

- Major exaggeration of membership statistics.
- Lack of financial transparency
- Wacky made up history central to the doctrine.
- High $ price to reach upper levels of the religion
- Paranoid upper leader ship.
- Persecution complex
- Extremely cult like youth training program. (SeaOrg vs Missions)
