Cloning and The Plan Of Salvation

All living things—mankind, animals, and plants—were spirits before any form of life existed upon the earth (Gen. 2:4–5; Moses 3:4–7). The spirit body looks like the physical body (1 Ne. 11:11; Ether 3:15–16; D&C 77:2; 129). Spirit is matter, but it is more fine or pure than mortal element or matter (D&C 131:7). (LDS.org)
A cloned person or animal (like the monkeys in the link above) gets a spirit like a naturally made person. Any difference?

One point of cloning that is regularly misunderstood is that we have had clones for thousands of years without any real problem. We just called them twins and figured they were their own person with the chance for making choices without resorting to a dependent salvation based on sharing a womb.
Let's suppose you are a super villain wanting immortality so you head to an illegal cloning center in China and pay an impossible amount of money to get a clone. Suppose it is successful. You will suddenly be handed a new baby that looks like you and asked if you diapers and formula. Cloning is a long way from transference of consciousness and immortality.
As far as LDS doctrine and spirits, I simply classify that as religious fan fiction with no relevance to real philosophy. I can read Thomas Aquinas and William James if I want decent logic about God. I simply don't find consistency in the writings Bruce McConkie or Joseph Smith.

Can a cloned human be a member of the church? I'm sure there will be some revelation to come on that like with the kids of gay couples.

Probably, but only if they renounce the science which created them.

If they are baptized and especially if they pay tithing on gross. They would be eligible to be General Authorities if they are cloned from the Sticks of Smith or Kimball.

What if Hitler got cloned?
Would he be excommunicated defacto?

Don't think the Church subscribes to original donor cell sin. Besides, different circumstances shape different behavior. For instance, if the cloned child was raised in Argentina he would speak Spanish as well as German, and perhaps have a DVD of
Evita. He might even encounter some elderly Norte Americanos seeking the donation of gold teeth.

The real spiritual problems begins when you clone the clone and the original clone was co-joined at birth.

No, Hitler has actually received all his ordinances by proxy. He will receive all his father hath.

The guy in the baptistry who performed the ordinance likely didn't say his first name correct, so the ordinance wasn't effectual. Sucks for Adolf and his cloned posterity, maybe even for all generations of time.

When this story first broke in the news, it mentioned that Adolf Hitler had received his ordinances on eight different occasions at various Temples. He was sealed to Eva Braun each time.
Mickey and Minnie Mouse were sealed in the Logan Temple. That pair may be copied but never cloned.

BlackMormon, brought up an interesting point regarding the Hensel twins. If baptized in the LDS faith, would they need to be dunked twice or would the baptizer simply say both names before the single dunking? Most likely this would need to be decided at Church headquarters and the answer might ultimately be decided by the inspiration of a coin toss (especially a coin printed with two heads).
