Thought I'd read this article just for fun. The writer tries pretty hard to make a miracle out of Joseph's seer stone which is to be expected. Funny thing is when a commentor who is obviously a highly informed geologist, in a very matter of fact way just blows this guy's theory on the "prepared" stone right out of the water. Worth reading just for this geologists comment.

I think positing a dinosaur gut stone is really a stretch here. Especially since there are simpler explanations and Occam's Razor and all that. Upstate NY has undergone multiple stages of glaciation with meltwater streams, moraines, and other processes creating rounded / subrounded gravels and cobbles. Gravels in Pacific northwest recessional outwash, advance outwash, and even glacial till are commonly rounded to subrounded.

Glaciers did it not dinosaurs.

Exact same conclusion arrived at by the geologist commentor Kevin Henson in the comment section after the article. Very well documented.

You know this banded jasper stone is true because it would be too easy to believe if the stone had been coprolite.

I think this story represents so perfectly what TBMS are dealing/suffering with as far as mental gymnastics and psychological enslavement. This poor author is so willing to go beyond reality and into a fantasy land in order to support or prop up the Joseph Smith legend/myth (lie), it's tragically sad.

And there are millions of people, some of them quite intelligent who buy this stuff hook, line and sinker.

No, those are called caprolites, they are the real lithified (fossilized) remains of digested vegetable and animal matter. The Seer Stone was just an agate that got rolled around during the ice ages and smoothed/polished by normal glacial processes. It is a pretty cool rock, but I would have thought something more crystalline or see-through would have been more appropriate. Talk about "seeing through a glass, darkly."
