Mormon Bible Chronology

Post by moksha »

It starts off with the Fall of Adam around 4000 BCE. They listed stuff like the big flood, the Tower of Babel, etc.... Sometime after 3000 BCE, Abraham writes his famous scrolls in Reformed Egyptian via a heavenly algorithm which condenses the work into just a few short scrolls. Because of the encryption-like nature of this heavenly algorithm, a special hat and stone were needed to distinguish the real text from that of some funerary text written on the same scrolls some 2,800 years later.

Anyway, you can read it at LDS.org. https://www.lds.org/scriptures/bible-chron?lang=eng
Good faith does not require evidence, but it also does not turn a blind eye to that evidence. Otherwise, it becomes misplaced faith.

This is the biggest straw that breaks my back. I have never seen this chronology defended credibly. They just put it out there like it’s common knowledge- And base the whole LDS conception of reality on it. To me, this is a bigger smoking gun than the papyri translation. 🤔
It puts them in the same boat as the fundamental “Bible is inerrant” school of thought. If Joseph was really inspired to edit the Bible, surely he would have given a rational alternative to this chronology, but instead he adds prophecies about himself.😂
God is Love. God is Truth. The greatest problem with organized religion is that the organization becomes god, rather than a means of serving God.
