I know everyone here has been waiting patiently for the new "Tank Top" garments. Sorry to disappoint but they seem to tank more than they top! However LDS clothing has stated they will last up to 50 washes!

Frequently Asked Question

Q. What is Stretch Cotton?
A. Stretch Cotton is a garment designed to better meet members’ needs. It is 95% cotton and 5% spandex, with stretch polyester mesh panels for airflow where it’s needed most.

Q. Why does Stretch Cotton consist of a mix of fabrics?
A. The fabrics were chosen to provide a comfortable, cool fit for members living around the world.

Cotton is a natural fiber that is breathable, wicks away moisture well, and is available in many areas of the world. It is especially useful for those living in hot climates.
Spandex is added to provide a better fit. The stretch makes it more comfortable for a variety of body types.

Panels made of polyester mesh are added to the sides and inside the legs. The small holes of the mesh increase breathability and coolness and ensure that the garment dries quickly.

Q. What else is different about Stretch Cotton?
A. Stretch Cotton tops have been designed with a new sleeve that eliminates fabric under the arm for a cooler, more comfortable fit. The garment also features a tagless label where possible. This will help to make the garment more comfortable, and it ensures that the tag information remains readable longer.

Q. Will the printed labels lose their visibility over time?
A. The printed labels are designed to last approximately five years—well beyond the lifetime of the garment itself—under normal wash and wear conditions.

Q. Will this new garment shrink?
A. Cotton naturally shrinks, so this product will shrink slightly; however, most members report that the shrinkage is unnoticeable.

Q. How is the garment designed to fit?
A. The garment should be formfitting but not tight. If the garment is worn too tight, the seams could tear. The hemline of the garment bottom should be just above the kneecap and the sleeve hem should be three inches beyond the shoulder bone. If the garment is worn too short or tight, the hemlines may be uncomfortable.

Q. How do I care for Stretch Cotton?
A. Stretch Cotton should be washed in warm or cool water and then line dried or tumble dried on low heat. Hot water and high heat can break down the spandex more quickly. Only non-chlorinated bleach should be used, as chlorinated bleach can make cotton and spandex fibers more brittle as well as discolor fabrics.

Q. Where will this new garment be available?
A. The women’s Stretch Cotton knee-length bottom and chemise top will initially be available to members in only Canada and the U.S. By the end of 2018, these will be released to members in other areas. Other Stretch Cotton styles, including nursing and maternity options, will follow during the course of 2018.

Q. Will Stretch Cotton work for everyone?
A. Not everyone will prefer Stretch Cotton, as there are many different preferences for the fit and feel of fabric. However, Stretch Cotton has received favorable results from member wear tests in many areas of the world.

Q. How long are garments designed to last?
A. All garments are designed and tested to last 50 washes, which is approximately one year. Some garments may last longer than others, and personal preference usually dictates when to replace the garment.

Q. Which fabric is Stretch Cotton most like?
A. Stretch Cotton is 95% cotton, which means it feels most like the Cotton-Poly or 100% Cotton garments. However, the spandex helps it fit closer to the body and makes it stretchier than the current cotton garments.

PM me your thoughts, I'll post them.

Although everyone is disappointed it wasn't a bit more top and less than, is anyone really surprised? Just like the iPhone, why make massive leaps, even if it's possible when you can sell so many more with incremental updates? They'll re-design it again in a few years to be a little more modern (compared to 1995 modernity). And everyone will oooh and aaah and modern revelation in action. What I thought was interesting is the leg hem is designed to be just above the kneecap. I thought it was supposed to cover the knee?

The knee mark requirement is the major hurdle to keep garments from advancement. Not to delve into women's intimate apparel, but without the knee requirement, the 3 remaining special marks could easily be incorporated into a standard womens brief and bra. But I digress, this really isn't a topic I should be involved with.

Gramps is right...we should follow the example of JS...which is to not wear garments when it is hot and when we don't want to.

That's a common answer I've heard a lot.

Substitute "underwear" for garments and it sounds totally crazy.
How we treat our underwear is in similitude of how we think, respect and revere the sacredness of our covenants. I’ve always been told to never leave your underwear on the foor, for example. It shows a carelessness and disrespect for the covenants we make in the House of the Lord.
We are encouraged to wear underwear at all times. We should always seek reasons to wear underwear, than to not wear underwear. Consistent wearing of the underwear helps us to “put on the whole armor of God”. Is there ever a time when you don’t want the whole armor of God to remind you of your covenants?
Let us follow the Prophet Joseph Smith: “I teach them correct principles, and they govern themselves.”

The only real improvement the church can make for garments is to completely abandon them and shove them down the memory hole.

Seriously. Garments are the single dumbest part of modern Mormonism, and among the dumbest ideas its founding con artist ever came up with.
