Do his kids take his suits and stuff, or do they take it to the DI?

I would assume it is the same as when any of us die. His heirs (kids, I assume) inherit his personal effects and dispose of it as seems best to them. Some stuff - like personal papers, etc. - might be transferred to church ownership by pre-arranged agreement.
I could be wrong, but I can't see why it would be any different for a church president than for anyone else.

Well... Mr. Monson
was a local celebrity.
If you're interested, I'd keep my eyes out on E-Bay. Or maybe they'll stay local and use the KSL Classifieds.

Tour Guide: and here's the suit Howard W. Hunter wore when he fell off the podium.
Tour Guide: and here's the black suit President Kimball wore in 1978 when he made the priesthood announcement.
Tour Guide: and here's the suit the guy who drove the garbage truck golf cart wore when he blocked ordain women protestors from entering the tabernacle.
Tour Guide: and here's the suit Thomas S. Monson wore when he announced the missionary age change.
Kid to Tour Guide: why is the lapel all slobbery?
Tour Guide: it's also the suit he died in. It appears he never changed out of it after that inaugural conference announcement which defined his legacy within the church! His caretakers tried and tried to no avail to get him to change into his BYU track and leisure suit.
Kid to Tour Guide: Can we see his BYU track and leisure suit?
Tour Guide: no son, he was buried in it. Why do you think it was a closed casket funeral?

You're joking, but that was once a real thing. We used to go there for Young Adult activities. I remember feeling sad that someone had broken off one of David O. McKay's fingers and they tried to hide it by putting a Book of Mormon in his hands.
