Guess who said this:
"We have the true Masonry. The Masonry of today is received from the apostasy which took place in the days of Solomon and David. They have now and then a thing that is correct, but we have the real thing"
A. John Pemberton, who was defending the usage of coca leaves (cocaine) in the making of this outstanding American beverage, noting that it was 'the real thing'.

B. Heber C. Kimball, who was defending transforming the Grand Arch Masonic Ceremony into the Nauvoo Endowment Ceremony.

C. Milton S. Hershey, who was defending the decision to abandon milk caramels and replace them with milk chocolates.

D. Ardent fans of the movie La La Land protesting the decision of the Academy Awards to take the Oscar and give it to the producers of the movie Moonlight after the error of the wrong envelope was discovered.

I'm going to guess Heber C., but that is totally a Hershey thing to say.

I was going to guess John Kellogg.

I believe Brigham Young (creator of Moon Quaker Oats) made a similar statement, referring to the temple endowment as Celestial Masonry.

Definitely Heber C. Just finished reading that section of No Man Knows My History where Fawn is explaining how the early brethren being all masons would have been blind not to see that the endowment they just performed was just like what they did in the lodge. Hmm how do we explain it to these masons?
It may seem surprising that Joseph should have incorporated so much Masonry into the endowment ceremony in the very weeks when all his leading men were being inducted into the Masonic lodge. They would have been blind indeed not to see the parallelism between the costuming, grips, passwords, keys, and oaths. Joseph made free use of other Masonic symbols — the beehive, the all-seeing eye, the two clasped hands, and the point within the circle. The miracle play performed in the Mormon ceremony differed only in subject matter from the Masonic drama of Hiram Abiff, and both used many of the same sonorous phrases from the Old Testament. Joseph taught his men simply that the Masonic ritual was a corruption of the ancient ritual of Solomon, and that his own was a restoration of the true Hebraic endowment.*

Another gem from Brodie:
"Wilford Woodruff once frankly admitted that some temple ordinances were first performed in the Masonic Temple in Nauvoo.Temple Lot Case, p. 299."
So nobody batted an eye about it being the same after they knew they had the real thing.
