I follow Ken Jennings on Twitter, and he does have very NOM-ish viewpoints on many issues. I always liked watching him on Jeopardy. I agree w/ the Reddit poster who said that he is too bright to be very much of a TBM. - Wndr.

Thanks for protecting my kids from all that smut on Reddit.

May I be the first to welcome Ken to NOM when he arrives.
Reading can severely damage your ignorance.
Re: Ken Jennings a NOM?
If Ken Jennings were to hold NOM views, TBMs in his ward would be dismissive of him saying, "What does he know anyway?"
Good faith does not require evidence, but it also does not turn a blind eye to that evidence. Otherwise, it becomes misplaced faith.

Ken, please share your disaffection story with us, in the form of a question.

Do you think Brother Jennings' bishop does his temple rec interview Jeopardy style?
"This is money the Lord doesn't really need but you pay to show obedience."
"What is tithing, bishop?"

He said on Twitter, "have you considered that your thoughts and prayers aren't doing jack sh!t"
Note: ! Was added by me in case young children are reading NOM discussions, which language could affect their lives forever.

I read that he was responding to people who were offering prayers in response to a call for donations. That would make what he said what lots of people who believe would say.

Just came across a fun interview with Jennings. I've never watched Jeopardy, but I found this interesting nonetheless.

Yeah! And, to some degree, I still do, perhaps more out of a sense of aesthetics than conviction. Like, wouldn’t it be so much nicer if there were something bigger? But, growing up in the Mormon faith, that’s a very complicated, esoteric Heaven that’s trying to harmonize a bunch of Biblical traditions. It gets very baroque.

I enjoyed the "New Yorker" interview very much. Jennings cites modern understanding of history, and the documentary theory. He has a very broad view of religion.Ghost wrote: ↑Thu Jun 08, 2023 1:13 pm Just came across a fun interview with Jennings. I've never watched Jeopardy, but I found this interesting nonetheless.

God is Love. God is Truth. The greatest problem with organized religion is that the organization becomes god, rather than a means of serving God.
