Is conference vacation weekend?

I'm on the bus right now. It is normally crowded but today it's empty. The only possible explanation I can think of is that it's conference weekend. People aren't taking a long weekend because they get a day off work so they must be doing it because they get a day off church.
I would love to know if Disneyland gets a Utah surge on conference weekend, also how many TiVo units will be home dutifully watching conference while their owners are waterskiing at Lake Powell.
A TBM friend of mine calls conference the Get Out of Church Free card. To me it seems more like the Trade Three Hours of Church for Ten card.

This reminds me of when I lived in the MorCor. We did all of our grocery shopping and errands (that we could) on Sundays. It was a ghost town. Saturdays were nightmares to go anywhere.

I'm going to a sports car show Sunday morning at the harbor, then taking the grandkids out in a boat.

Saturday- going to the lake to go on a pontoon boat with the kiddos
Sunday- TBM friends meet up with us every first Sunday of April and October to eat out, go to the zoo, or museum, etc. Because it is the only time they are free from church callings. They are starting to go more inactive, but not NOM, just burned out. This Sunday we are going to a famous restaurant on Route 66 in our neck of the woods and then to a pumpkin patch across the street for our annual corn maze adventure and a mad game of corn-holing. yee haw!
This isn't a vacation, it is a tradition.

Pretty sure I heard the opening notes of Dueling Banjos as I read that.

We're treating this weekend as a vacation, but mostly because our vacation got disrupted and so we decided to take a long last weekend of the month to kick back and have some fun. Odd thing is, my husband didn't know it was conference this weekend, he insisted it was next weekend. It never ceases to amaze me how the TBM in this relationship knows less about what's going on at church than I do.

DW is doing a ladies weekend with her Jr High friends. They are going to conference and Ryan Hamilton comedy show. I am stuck with the kids but still enjoy the down time and not going to church. I wanted to hit Yellowstone but the weather turned rainy so we bagged it.
We often use GC and SC as free weekends.
