Well after another day of verbal abuse from my wife I went to work all ticked off and today has become my independence day . Went to quit Mormon and resigned !!!!!!!!!! Big step for me but long over due !! She always says she can't be married to a non member so we will see where this leads me !!! But I am free to explore other churches and it feels soooooooo good. I had just had enough and 36 years in the church was enough !!

God Bless and Thanks to all for your support.

Wow!!!

Way to be strong, Rebel!!!

I hope you and your wife can work things out, but understand if you can't. If that is the case, it's her loss.

I actually looked up emotional abusers on line tonight and guess what my wife fits the model 100% . We will see I guess.

**Update , Yes I did resign, in April I chickened out and pulled it back !! Just waiting on confirmation now. I used quitMormon.com this time . I must have the weirdest situation now though !!!!!!! No divorce just an upset wife that wanted me to agree to keep on attending with her . I said yes to keep the peace and the way I see it -- No tie, No calling, No Temple rec interview , no Bull if I don't want it jus sit and vegitate !!!! Win win !!
Only 1 hr if I get tired of it . yes life is good but it took a ,long time to get here ........................... I am relieved .

Well I wish you and your wife the best. What does it feel like to be resigned?

Yes it does feel good !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am feeling very very relieved . Even though I will go to church with my wife I can daydream and not care about any of it . I feel like I can believe whatever I want and that is freedom !!! I call myself an Independent Christian .

Keep us posted on your progress.
If you attend and are not a member, there are still assignments in scouting, basketball and other church sports. Just because you are not a member doesn't mean they won't ask you to help out in some capacity...it is just easier to say no now.

Congrats Rebel! And thanks for your post, you inspired me to take the plunge. Quit Mormon is a smooth and easy way to quit for sure, so I followed your cue and did it!

Indeed! So yes I finally decided to take my name off the records. What finally led me to this is because of some weird dreams about the church due to the trauma I have suffered. Waking up thinking "How can I even be associated with this church?," has been a constant irritant lately. (Also since it is extremely difficult to have sealings annulled, I decided to take it upon myself and just deny myself of those "blessings" the easy way.) On Sunday I woke up from one of those nightmares and I happened to see Rebel's post. :)

One of the main reasons I never took my name off was to not give any of my former leaders the satisfaction. Since its been a few years and my old ward is miles and miles away it doesn't matter anymore. In addition through the attorney at Quit Mormon they won't get the opportunity of trying to contact me anyways. It really makes the process much easier and not mentally grueling.
