My wife and kids went to a splash pad today. I showed a picture to a nevermo coworker and he mentioned that he takes his kids to one by the church he goes to; go to church then go play at the splash pad. At dinner my 6 year old was talking about the fun times they had today and I mentioned that my coworker goes to church then the splash pad.

Son, a little shocked: They wouldn't open the splash pad we went to on Sunday would they!? That's bad.
Linked: I'm not sure if it's open. Why is it bad?
S: They shouldn't be open on Sunday, it's is supposed to be a rest day.
L: Who told you that?
S: I think my primary teachers said it's a rest day.
L: Oh, ok.
S: You were just testing me, right dad?
L: Sure.

L: What do you think of Sunday being a day of rest? Is that important to you?
S: No, I don't really care.

I love my son. He's at an age where he is picking up on so many things. And he is trying so hard to be good. It's nice to see that he is social enough to be indoctrinated, and self-aware enough to recognize how he actually feels about the subjects he is being indoctrinated about.

I'm not sure how my wife felt about this discussion. I didn't tell him Sunday shouldn't be a day of rest...

Rest = no fun.

Which of the arbitrary Sunday rules ensure celestial kingdom entry? Is it the no TV rule, the wear church clothes all day rule, no worldy music, the no super bowl rule, ensuring sacrament attendance during vacation, or writing in journals?

What a sweet boy. our church "rules" other us. And honestly for no good reason. And that does lead to insularity, feelings of superiority, and cog dis.

I generally follow the TBM process of avoiding much of any activities on Sunday. I prefer to spend time with family. I have taken my kids on vacation to 6 flags on Sunday. All bets are off in vacation.
I am of the belief of doing things as a family on Sunday. Hiking, walking, basketball, etc is fine. I honestly need a day of rest to recuperate from the work week. As I age, I get more tired and need more rest.
