The topic of global warming has been discussed for some time, but it has come to be a vital issue of worldwide concern recently. Wouldn't it be a good time for an LDS revelation on this topic? Seems way more important than the last revelation that certain children not be allowed church membership.

What are your thoughts regarding a revelation on global warming?

While I have some ideas on global warming, I can't imagine anything useful actually appearing in a revelation about global warming. Any statement from the LDS church on scientific, material claim better be positively transcendent. Otherwise it will just look like yet another interest group putting out some limp position statement which is as much as I would ever expect from Mormon Newsroom.

However, it would be fantastic if the original architect and divine general contractor of this planet could actually provide some materially effective guidance on how to manage the life support system on this planet. Politics, technology, sustainable development, energy production, carrying capacity, and basic human nature are all competing against each other. It would be great if there were an authorized divine representative that could get actual revelation on how to best proceed.

As long as there is no way for global warming to have a PR impact on the LDS Corporation, they'll be silent.

Now... If there were some legislation somewhere regarding global warming, which could somehow have an impact on the LDS Corporation, I'm sure they could get Kirton McConkie to write the "Proclamation on Global Warming", to which the first presidency could provide their stamp of approval, and Desert Book could start selling fancy, framed copies of said proclamation.

In a way though....haven't they stated their position? I mean they own how much of Florida? And they want to invest how much to make a new city in the swamp there? You don't invest in Oceanside property you think will be underwater in a generation! Course, we all know their record of being on the wrong side of history....

It could be useful. It might be especially useful if Mitt Romney or Orrin Hatch was president.
