Using your agency/Presiding

Two unrelated light-hearted topics but have something in common I thought was interesting.
Has anyone every noticed that "using your agency" is just the Mormon way of saying "making a mistake?"
"I was so disappointed in myself because my son left the church, but I realized he can use his agency."
Why can't anyone ever use their agency for something good. Here's what I'm going to do from now on. Whenever someone tells me they or someone else is going on a mission, getting baptized or doing any 'good' Mormon thing, I'm simply going to say "well...everyone has their agency."
Everyone follow suit, we'll turn this into a thing.
Got me thinking about other Mormon ways of saying things. I was thinking about "presiding in the home." This is just code for "gets to choose who prays." Any other guys out there feel like presiding amounted to little more than choosing the person to pray at meals, mornings, nights, FHE, etc.?
Any other codes I am missing?

Getting married in the temple without non-member family. "I guess if that's the way you want to use your agency...."

This is spot on. Using your agency always means the right to make a bad decision.
I like the idea of turning it upside down.

I like that too. And it made me laugh.
Another code I've used by flipping is "I studied, pondered and prayed to know if we should give our tithes blindly to the church (who has no transparency) or to give it to those in need and I felt the spirit strongly to give to those in need."

I love this. Minimize the mormon words and lingo or flip the meaning. That's genius.
Go retro. Remember when agency was free? Free agency this. Free agency that.
Another code word that gets overly used is "council" thanks to Ballard.
Time for family council!
The wife will suggest gathering the family for a quick family council. I'll walk through the house and gather the kids. "Everyone come, Mom wants to have a family discussion!"
Another code word is "garments".
Notice they have their own name? Garments are not underwear. Garments are garments.
Wife: "Honey, can you go grab me a pair of garments out if the dryer?"
Me: Here's your underwear.

Sorry about this, dc.
To me presiding in the home means the one who holds the trump card. Always. Whether or not what he wants is wise. Presiding in the home means the who gets what he wants. Always. Whether or not it's detrimental to the family.
Presiding in the home means the one who's always right. Always. Even when he's wrong.
Shortly before I ended my marriage to my abusive husband, I was sitting in a joint RS/PH meeting. The bishop gave a lesson on gender roles and how spiffy they are. See, not all men have abusive proclivities, but tell the ones who do, "you'll be a God, someday. You'll have forty-five wives, someday. She covenants to obey you. She's a priestess to you. You pull her through the veil (thus standing in for the Savior and she literally relies on you for salvation). You preside. You lead. You direct. She is your helpmeet. Her only purpose in life is too serve you." Well, you do the math. It isn't pretty.
Anyway, the bishop was going on and on about the spiffiness of gender roles and how they keep women oppressed when he finally said, "Men, if you're not leading and presiding in your homes, step up! It's your right!"
I wish you could have seen my ex husband's face! He had won and he knew it!
So, I hear the word "preside". I hear the word "abuse".
