I am reading this book right now. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B003K15IOE/re ... TF8&btkr=1 I've got about 30 pages left. It's all about dissonance theory. I thought after all I've been through and studied with the church I know a little something about cognitive dissonance. It has been incredibly eye opening to say the least. If you're looking for a good book and moving on from church history this might be a good one to check out.

Is this a book that is unintentionally serving as the operating model for apologetics and conference talks?

I loved this book and recommend it frequently.

The lessons for me out of this were about leadership. The more you try to defend your position and try to get people to believe you never made a mistake, the more loss of influence you have on other people.

But for those leaders who can acknowledge that they made a mistake, talk about what they learned and express what they would do differently next time, then their influence with those who they lead grows.

Hmmmm.....

Which path is the church taking?

Clearly their path is losing their ability to influence more and more people. Can't say I am sad about that.

I just finshed thjs book minutes ago. Maybe we knew each other in the preexistence??.

Great book on clear thinking. There are lots of take aways on rushing to judgement, fending bad ideas, sunk costs, false memories and rationalization.

I have a better understanding now as to why JS may have come to believe in the first vision, and why really smart people believe in this weird religion called Mormonism. I also more commuted to challenging my bias.

Great resd.

Ps. I'm drunk. And don't feel like spell checking ..
