Disappointing Grandma - Updates

Mrs Kori's family will be visiting the last week of March. In an uncommon move, her Grandma will be coming as well. They are coming from SLC, but are driving for a variety of reasons, including stops in St George for a dance competition and in Vegas to visit other family there. However, it's rather remarkable that Grandma is coming for such a trip, she doesn't like going to downtown SLC, let alone a 2 week road trip.
Anyway, my MIL knows of my (our) disenchantment and knows we haven't been attending the past several weeks. Last night, they called to Facetime and the cousins act insane in front of each other on the screen, it's a fun weekly ritual. My MIL told us Grandma asked about attending church with us while everyone is in town. It was a hard question for everyone collectively. We ended that topic without really answering - basically "Not sure".
I'm OK with Grandma not knowing our departure from church. She wouldn't understand and it would only hurt her. I would be willing to go to church merely for her sake, but there are some other scheduling conflicts as well.
So we're not sure if we should simply let the other scheduling conflicts be the excuse and just plan on not going or if we should take one for the team.

Hmmm
I'd go to church with grandma. It won't hurt you and may mean a lot to her. My grandparents are all gone but that's what I'd do ... and I dislike going as much as you do I think.

I'm with No Tof on this one. Just go. Or at least just go to SM. You don't get your grandparents forever. Mine are all gone too. Just go.

I just realized I didn't add the rest of the story about the why we might not go. We would totally go simply to appease grandma.
Depending on how the schedule shakes out, Mrs Kori might be out of town on the Friday and Saturday prior to the Sunday in question. Mrs Kori and I are involved in a crossfit competition, and testing days are Friday, Sat and Sunday. If she's gone Friday and Saturday, we are forced to go Sunday which conflicts with church. It's very important, especially to Mrs Kori, to attend this crossfit comp. However, missing church to go to the Gym would be a major red flag to grandma. It's just a sticky situation.

Sometimes you have to get creative.
Everyone goes to the cross fit event including grandma.
You "listen" to your favorite general conference talk in the car on the way.
Everyone wins!!

Or, everyone goes to the cross fit thing, then you attend sac meeting at a ward other than your own ward at a time that doesn't conflict with competition. This way, you avoid those horrible, "where you been?" Comments in front of grandma.

Okay this makes more sense. Do what RR and Alas said. Let Grandma know that crossfit camp falls under "wholesome recreational activities" as per Family Proclamation.
Also good luck to Mrs. Kori. I hope she kicks some a$$!

Take grandma to the rodeo and maybe she will forget about church on Sunday.

Yeah, from her hospital bed when she gets bucked off the bull!

Well, this actually just became interesting.
As noted, we haven't attended for a few weeks. Recently talking with Mrs Kish, I said I still plan to vote opposed at the next opportunity.
I decided to look at the calendar, and low and behold, our next Ward Conference is March 26. This is when Mrs Kish's family (including Grandma) will be in town and wanting to attend church with us.
Grandma will be even more disappointed now than if we didn't go.

Or EVEN MORE DISAPPOINTED when you vote opposed in her presence.

Exactly, that's what I was alluding to.

Well, in my useless, Fluffy opinion... I'm pretty sure there will be another Ward Conference in the future where you can stand up, raise your hand and shout "OPPOSED!!!".
If you do actually attend the conference, keep your hands in your pockets.
And tell grandma that some random idiot on the internet said that any religious meeting with the word "
conference" in the title actually translates to:
Religious Holiday. (And I don't even need a magic rock to tell me that "
translation".)
