The same site has a link to a document showing that in 2014 the living allowance for a general authority was $120,000/year. After the leak, a church spokesperson said that all general authorities receive the same allowance.

Living allowance?.....my a$$...

You know, this slight of hand word crap gets just plain old. "We aren't lying,...we are protecting the church." "Its not adultery...God commanded him to take those women as a test of his faith." "It isn't murder to shed the blood of someone who needs to have their blood split to atone for their sins (which we decided they committed)"...

Add nauseum...

The church has become a master propagandist...and cunning with sophistry and ambiguity. Its like saying...Oh, JS was married to those women, but none of them actually said he had sex with them...so we can just say he didn't.

Give me a break. Oh wait,...that is what we are supposed to give JS...a break.

Yes, but there is a lot of speculation on how much they really make with book deals, perhaps money they may get from sitting on a board, etc. Just curious to see if the tithing paid, matches up with the 120K a year, or if it painted a different picture. I can't see the documents you posted, so I don't know what your talking about, but I got to thinking if this is just tithing paid from one paycheck, then it still wouldn't give us much insight into any of that.

If GA's do pay tithing, then where does this idea that they are exempt come from?

You can see where Eyring made a mark that he'd paid tithing. I don't know if the two-week stub is actually 2 weeks or twice a month.

When I was on a mission, it was explained to me that missionaries don't pay tithing because their work is their tithing. I was exempt because I was a full-time missionary. I suspect the same reasoning applies to general authorities. Eyring probably pays because he truly believes in the principle of tithing. I think that's commendable, really. He doesn't have to, but he does anyway.

When it says General Authority base living allowance, does that mean the starting allowance increased in increments with of position and seniority? On top of that would be the parsonage addition and perhaps other things like royalties, performance bonuses and corporate dividends?

In addition, I think there was an meeting in Winter Quarters or on the pioneer trail where the apostles voted to make themselves exempt from tithing. I'll see if I can find a reference.

Blazerb, if you are serious here and find the reference, it makes me that much more angry at Brigham Young. He dipped into the tithing, didn't pay any himself, and squandered the livings of his wives, all to himself.

What a creep!

Very nice, Thank You!

wow his handwriting is worse than mine, I guess that says tithing. I can see he has 309.62 written there, which would indeed be 10% of his gross income for that pay stub, and I guess we can assume the other two 309.62 numbers are from previous pay stubs, but I wonder what the 72.40 would be.

D. Michael Quinn wrote in the June 1996 Sunstone
In January 1845, a Quorum of the Twelve epistle reemphasized "the duty of all saints to tithe themselves one-tenth of all they possess when they enter into the new and everlasting covenant: and then one-tenth of their interest, or income, yearly afterward." Two weeks later, the Quorum of the Twelve voted to exempt themselves, the two general bishops (Newel K. Whitney and George Miller), and the Nauvoo Temple Committee from any obligation to pay tithing. This was due to their services to the Church.
The footnote says that this was found in the diary of Heber C. Kimball.

There is a link to the article here: http://www.mormonthink.com/tithing.htm

I want to read exactly what was written in the diary now.
