And I wonder if they pull it because they realize it’s toxic at that point or if they just don’t want to allow the opposing viewpoint or negative responses any room on their fb page.
This gives us a powerful weapon to combat the most toxic content, though, because the Church is so scared of negative reactions. Keyboard warriors, assemble!

They shut it down.

Red Ryder, I am glad we didn't have this crazy $#!+ when we were there at Rick's. Or maybe they did, I really didn't go to as many devotionals as I should have. Only the dean mandated ones I had to write reports on.

DW and I had a good laugh about the whole thing.
I don't remember and I had to attend and report for a semester while on honor code probation for falling asleep at a dude's apartment. We had a movie night and a few other people (guys and girls) fell asleep and never went home. Multiple roommates called it in and we all ended up on probation. That included mandatory devotional attendance and a one page write up to be reviewed with the honor code "probation" officer.

Glad I never went back there. That place is crazy and cold!!
Yeah my probation was for getting tattled on for going to my parents cabin with mixed genders. Nothing happened. Adults getting reprimanded for nothing.

This strategy would work for anything from Muslims to flat earth believers. These are the kind of ill-conceived talks one would expect when criticism of leaders is considered a sin.

MV, I wanted to see what you were talking about, so I finally figured out you prob meant "Mormon Stories Podcast". So I found that FB page and all it is is stuff about a billboard and Hans and Brighetta (sp?) Do you have a link? I need a good laugh.

The MSP FB page had a link to the actual BYUI post, maybe their Twitter or just their blog. BYUI took their own post down, along with all the comments. Gaslighting at its finest.

It never happened.

“Whenever I am tempted to doubt the Church or any of its leaders, past or present, I need only to reevaluate my own spiritual state,” President Eyring said. “I ask myself the question, ‘Am I true?’”
As a matter of fact Henry, I am.
I don't have sex with 14 year old boys.
I don't have sex with my friend's husbands.
I don't commit bank fraud and swindle people out of their money.
I don't believe God hates blacks and gays.
I don't condone murder of innocent men, women, and children.
I don't believe in asking children questions about sex behind closed doors.
I had nothing to do with Sam's excommunication for stating above was wrong and standing up for children.
I'm true to my husband and family, the kids i work with, my co workers, and people in my community.

Henry, go to Hell. (and don't tell Joseph, Brigham, or any other false prophets I said hi.)
+2 and rock on Starbucks Mom!

Anon70 wrote: Thu Sep 20, 2018 9:05 am This was also disturbing:

President Eyring said. “Pray for feelings of remorse, and for guidance in making things right. Having done that, pray for feelings of forgiveness.”

As this happens, “you can recognize not only the miracle of forgiveness, but also the power of the doctrines of the Church, through which forgiveness has come,” he said. “You can once again prove the truthfulness of the Church, notwithstanding the imperfections of its members.”

So not only do you not base your beliefs in any kind of verifiable facts (just feelings) if you don’t have good feelings you must be sinning in some area of your life and that’s the problem.
You have to pray for remorse (guilt) if you notice something's wrong with the official narrative? How does that make objective sense? Mormons (excuse me, ChurchofJCofLDSians) already have enough guilt to drown a whale.

I honestly can not believe in 2018 he would get up in front of college students and say this, and I can not believe the church thinks it is a good idea to promote this story. BYU Idaho deleted their Facebook post on this... the reactions were swift and brutal.
Kudos. I'm glad it wasn't meekly swallowed whole.

That link to reddit points out that it wasn't apostle Eyring, but his son. I didn't catch that when I read the op of this thread. He's the new BYUI prez, isn't he?

No nepotism going on here, I'm sure Henry J was the most qualified candidate for that throne, err, office.

Never. I mean, look at all the apostles for the last hundred years. Not one of them is related to another, not even by marriage. . . . Um . . . [whispers to the side, "It's okay to lie here, right?"]

The younger Henry just cancelled a play the theater department wrote called, Leaving Eden. Apparently a play with vague Bible references and a woman Satan is too edgy.

Saw that last night - simply awful. He cancelled it a couple of weeks prior to the first show. People have thrown their time and talents into something and it got canned at (almost) the last possible moment. We have had two kids in theater the last few years - it's insane how much time and effort go into a play, even at the junior high through high school levels.

RSM replies - "Let me check" (Sends his wife out of the room) "Yup, Jesus said you're good"

So in other words, a person needs to be perfect in order to determine the church is false. I'm sure the church would love to set that as the bar. I do wonder, would they apply that same rule for someone trying to determine if say the catholic church is false. You see Eyring, whatever basis you establish for determining the falseness of an organization, one should be able to apply it universally, regardless of the organization. There shouldn't be one standard for the mormon church and another for all other churches.

“Toxic, damaging, psychologically manipulative - this is disgusting. He begins by talking about how shaken he was when he discovered that scholarship had proven the Book of Abraham to be a fraud, and how his “secret weapon” GA dad simply asked him how the book makes him feel, and all was well because it makes him feel good and “what else do you need to know"”

This BOA makes him “feel good”?? Doesn’t the BOA have all that rascist stuff and stuff about have leaders of thr church were chosen in the preexistance.

Frankly, most of the BOA really doesn’t make much sense!

I can think of lots of non LDS-Inc. approved activities that "feel good."
