The Church is stubborn. It's instilled in the membership. The culture breeds it. Not all that different and makes about as much sense as the JW's 'scriptural' doctrine on blood abstinence (or birthday and holiday celebration, for that matter).

This guy mentioned that idea as well,..that "[many believe] AIDS was sent to punish gay people." He was appropriately snarky about that. Why?...he isn't gay.
