OMG you know how they do holograms of dead celebrities at concerts? Well, we should do a Packer hologram denouncing us! And the TBMs would think he is really trying to reach out to them from the spirit world to warn them about the so-called New Order Mormons.Corsair wrote:Not some Seventy! We need a stalwart apostle to denounce us. Haha, you guys crack me up.
I don't have time to carefully read every post on this thread but I wanted to say that I think we need to encourage current and new members to post. We could have 100 people join but if they don't ever speak up then we are almost in the same place. If that has already been said then I plus 1 it.
So my message to our silent NOM members- Don't feel like you have to be a professional writer, witty, articulate, or as wise as some of the posters here. Yes, we would be lost without them haha but people like me have value too Think about taking a chance and joining the conversation. We welcome different view points and you know what they say... life begins at the end of your comfort zone. Plus you might be able to help another person heal.
Cheers

My attempt at snappy and quotable. Not all that different from what Corsair came up with.Corsair wrote:What I meant is that Twitter allows 140 characters in one message. This is about how much text that would show up in Google Adsense and certainly a short amount of text would make sense in a Facebook ad. My rough first draft of text for a Facebook ad would be something like:Silver Girl wrote:I don't have the phrasing for Twitter, but how about using Tiny URL to make the url take fewer characters? I haven't used Tiny URL myself, but I know many who have used it - I guess i would work with Twitter? What short phrases would the snappy, quotable, clever, and interesting for encouraging the kind of forum members we would hope for on NOM 2.0?"LDS faith transitions and reevaluations: You're not alone at NewOrderMormon.Net"
I also wanted to work in the terms "respectful" and "less strident" but felt the loss of brevity might lessen the impact. The civility of the forum is the reason I found a home here, and "kinder, gentler" has become somewhat of a buzzphrase for that.A kinder, gentler place to explore LDS faith transitions and their impact on our relationships. You are not alone.
We had numerous discussions on NOM 1.0 about the value of the forum and it almost always came down to "not alone" being the number one value add, so I like the second sentence unembellished.
