The crazy part is this.

I mentioned our divorce and the how, why, when etc to people in the LDS-church, as well as with the people in the Evangelical Church I attend sporadically.
The reactions could not have been more different.
The LDS-crowd was positively friendly, encouraging, comforting.
The Evangelical-crowd, not so much, my friend/co-worker over there asked me to stop attending and to break contact.
To be honest, I was rather hurt. She was the only one of all people who was negative obout our decision.

Next Sunday I will be attending Sac-Mtg at Rotterdam 1st Ward. Just to be with close old friends and to avoid my in-laws who go to my official ward.

Isn't it odd, I wanted to leave, now I'm the last man standing of my family of 4 who sometimes attends an LDS-service..

Man, that sucks. I'm sorry your friend asked you to step away.

One thing the church does pretty well is create a place you can feel at home, I hope it brings you comfort in tough times.

Good luck! I hope it can be amicable.

I think that people sigmatize divorce more than they need to. Divorce is fine, especially if you have older children and if both people agree, even if it is to agree to disagree. You will always be bound by your children so you will need to get along with her. So even if she hurts you you should try to be respectful. I would recommend getting together and deciding how to split the property soon. Because later in the divorce you will likely both be less likely to be charitable. If you can't agree and get lawyers involved then the lawyers will be the biggest winners.

I hope you can find happiness!

So sorry to hear this. I just went through a divorce after 33 yrs of marriage but for much different reasons than you. I very much hope divorce laws in your area are more favorable toward men than they are in my state of Oregon.

A word of advice, don't leave your home yet. She wants a reboot, she has to move out. The fact that my DW abandoned home and family was the one thing that worked in my favor. Your laws may vary.

Get a good therapist. PM me if you would like to talk.
