Another, from Elder Packer: The Mantle Is Far, Far Greater Than the Intellect (at another CES event; can't be bothered to dig up the full reference).

I wouldn't have a problem with this if they were up-front about what they were doing and didn't publicly assume the roles of judge, prosecutor, defender and state. In truth, they're only counsel for the defense in one small trial, and we're the judges, regardless of the fact that they tell us that it's immoral to make what they think are the wrong judgments.

He later gives an analogy in which the CES educator is compared with a lawyer, and the client is the LDS church. Apparently, hiding church history is allowed as part of attorney-client privilege. In the Church we are not neutral. We are one-sided. There is a war going on, and we are engaged in it. It is the war between good and evil, and we are belligerents defending the good. We are therefore obliged to give preference to and protect all that is represented in the gospel of Jesus Christ, and we have made covenants to do it.
