DNA testing is really causing havoc with white supremacists who are trying to validate their pure-bred marshmallowness and finding that they're really mongrels. Their solution is to call it a conspiracy.
This reminds me of a documentary about the origins of humans I watched once. One of the FIRST lines in the documentary was:
We are all Africans. My first thought after that was: Boy, "they" sure got that "priesthood ban" thing right, didn't they?

Maybe instead of worrying about those who come from Africa, they should have said only those with a bit of Neanderthal DNA, seeing as people from Europe and Asia, and even the American continent have some Neanderthal, but those whose ancestors stayed in Africa until somewhat recently do not. That should flatter them with their racist ideas.

The issue of family history wrinkles is an interesting one. What if we were able to travel back in time and prevent Joseph Smith from marrying Lorena Bobbitt or what if we could prevent H.G. Wells from marrying Lucy Gates Bowen, or V. Larry Putin from marrying Melania Knauss? New wrinkles would have appeared. Ah, but that is just theoretical conjecture and everyone knows that cannot happen due to Corsair's Constant.

I think Joseph and Lorena not being contemporary and not marrying skews toward the proof there is not a God, or at least, this is an unjust universe.

Local and family history are a good hobby for me. It gives me reason to travel around the region to visit archives, to meet people, and learn new things. I never cared about taking names to the temple, that aspect has never been important. Also, I know I don't have any "pioneer ancestry", so the thought of connecting myself to Mormon royalty strikes me as ridiculous. The same goes for tracing my line back to anyone famous. Who really gives a fork?
My favorite thing DNA testing was posting how much of my genome was neanderthal. Unless Adam and Eve were a different species, it's hard for people to get their minds around that.

Good point. Of course, it's a little more complicated than that.
They must also have good Mormons stand as proxy for them in the temple to baptize them into our faith and make signs and covenants on their behalf so that they can receive the saving ordinances. This has been done by some upstanding, temple-worthy Latter-Day Saint for Hitler, so I assume all of his cohorts are also now redeemed and CK-ready. After all, they can't be held accountable (like you and I will be) for things they did before they were taught the one and only true gospel, which couldn't have happened until after their death, so be prepared to have the Third Reich gang looking down at you in the nether kingdoms where you're destined to end up because of your apostasy, Rob.

yeh yeh...the absurdities roll on.
I know there was a big problem years ago between the Jewish people over LDS Temple Work for deceased Jewish people. The church had to make a policy that UNLESS you were a direct relative descendant or something of a deceased Jewish person, you were NOT to submit names.
It seems to me that, in the case of war criminals, its mind blowing the disparity of who is allowed through and who is not. I know that if someone is convicted of murder, isn't it church policy that they are restricted from certain ordinances? I guess that doesn't apply when dealing with those who are war criminals but never joined the church in the first place.
These policies and loopholes, if you spend time thinking about them, are extremely offensive. EXTREMELY...
