You might have just added something to your Dad's shelf. I hope he can begin to understand where you're coming from better.
I really like the benefit this was to you and your wife. I think if my wife saw me become upset if anyone in my family did this to me, it would reinforce to her that this really is not about her. How I feel about the church doesn't affect how I feel about her.
