I was released yesterday! That's the good news.

The even better news is I was not given a new calling! Yay! :D

I admire your determination to stick with your commitment and I admire your bishop's intuition that a clean break was probably best for both of your. I do think a lot of bishops sincerely want to help people. Unfortunately, some let institutional rules and norms get in the way. It's nice, like this instance, when they actually seem to place a person's well-being ahead of the institution's.

I'll bet that's a relief. Did you talk to the bishop again, or did he just release you without another conversation?

Sorry I missed your reply. He released me without another conversation.

In fact, I still don't have a calling! :D

I once asked my dad about the women who were fighting to get the PH and he said, "Why would anyone want that extra work?" That is coming from MY dad, a true TBM to the heart. He never says no to anyone. Even though he is >90.
Yes it is defined by the term "condescenvy" where you are jealous and condescending with self righteousness at the same time. I think any of us that were part of the 10% of hard working TBMs that kept a ward going have felt this over people who don't do the work and feel no remorse over it at any given time.

In "year of polygamy" I think it was Lindsay Hansen Park who was using the analogy of the FLDS building a wall around the leader compound. All that would be needed to stop all the nonsense is for the laborers to put down the bricks that keep building the wall. Eventually we have to put down our own bricks.

I love this.
