I remember Kimballs teaching clearly. And...good thing he is saved because I believe he has a lot of divorce on his hands.

The vast majority of church leaders attitude is, too bad for him/her if they aren't worthy enough to keep a commitment then they aren't worthy enough to have an eternal partner. It's sickening. But if god is as kind and compassionate as I believe him to be, he wouldn't condone ripping peoples hearts out and ripping apart families over religion. It really defeats the whole purpose of "love one another" doesn't it?

On a similar note this attitude even affects how people approach dating in the church. It's not a courtship to see if you are compatible, love each other. (Or god forbid if it would be financially viable to marry and have 100 kids) It's all about are you "worthy" to hold a temple recommend. /rant over
What's sad is that when you're deep in it, you can't see it for what it is! But people who aren't caught in it can see it clear as day.

IE: The other day, we had a distant relative come visit. I was driving her around and she noticed how many Mormon churches there were and after we drove by a temple, she asked about it and the church. I told her there are some great things like a sense of community and high standards, but there are some not-so-great things like when I and several of my siblings got married in temples, our dad couldn't come inside because he didn't have a temple recommend. That was it for her - she said, "I thought the church was all about families! That's terrible!" In a couple seconds she saw what some people may take decades to see, if they ever do - because of mind-control.

I can see how that scripture makes sense - but definitely not in the context of stealing wives.
OK...I'm gunna bring up a topic I've spoken about before (and you are all probably sick and tired of hearing from me), but the counsel of the church, laid out in A Parents Guide- chapter 6 found here... https://www.lds.org/manual/a-parents-gu ... e?lang=eng" is to NOT discuss or talk about sexuality before marriage--in fact, it should be relegated to the "mundane". (Read it all if you think I'm lying). The only REAL thing that you should look for, as you mentioned PS, is if you are obeying the "Church" gospel.

And, the church admits (at least use to), that the #1 cause of divorce is sexual disharmony. The idea that the church cares about marriage is a joke. This divorce over "not living the gospel" also goes right into the bedroom. The answer to marital problems, according to the church, is "read your scriptures, say your prayers, pay your tithing...blah blah blah."

I find it hilarious that the suggested remedy to sexual problems in the church is the same--but has nothing to do with "well,..figure out how to have good sex."

Duh.

This is a big "pisses me off" topic--the idea that the church says marriage is a big deal, and treats marriages like sh!t.
It is ridiculous to expect people to have healthy sexual relationships if they feel wrong about it from the beginning - which the church tends to teach.

I wonder if at least part of this is projection of the leaders - they don't know how to have good relationships - they don't know what is involved, so they just ignore, and encourage others to ignore, what they don't feel confident in. I'm not trying to put them down, just a theory. I've repeatedly seen a lack of basic psychological/emotional intelligence by what many GA's say - I mean many of it is logical fallacy if not cognitive distortion.

It's like the blind leading the blind. And I don't just mean this sexually - but psychologically and spiritually too. These are generalizations, I'm sure there are exceptions, as always.

How many times have you tried to resign before, and your wife "blocked" it somehow?

This is exactly my scenario. My wife is a wonderful person, but we have nothing in common and I don't want to live the rest of my life with the Church still dictating elements of my day-to-day activities. The future looks grim, at this point.

For me, the church is the "final straw" and "a big straw" like Mad Jax said. Divorce is upcoming.

This has all sorts of sad stories:
