For me, all scripture has become a blur of words. I can't distinguish between man's word and what might be god's word. Wish I could get back that feeling that any of it made sense in a real way.

Actually, I don't really wish for that anymore.

I'd like to edit my other post to clarify that when I spoke of pioneers, I was referring to the stalwart followers of the man they believed to be a man of god and sacrificed everything they had. After re reading many of the posts I see most were describing those with a pioneering spirit of the quest for truth.

I think there are many of those amongst us too. They are those non members who choose not to join, and the many members who leave the church to search for truth. Like most of us here on NOM.

Happy Chocolate Bunny Day.
Out beyond ideas of wrongdoing and right doing, there is a field. I'll meet you there.

Great thread. I agree- a "like "button would be interesting. I overlooked this thread earlier, because the title didn't catch my attention, but the thoughts expressed here have been very enlightening and helpful. :) Happy Easter: celebrate the renewal of life, and thank our Creator/God however you perceive her.
God is Love. God is Truth. The greatest problem with organized religion is that the organization becomes god, rather than a means of serving God.
