Dear Brethren, I've got an idea!

This is for encouragement, ideas, and support for people going through a faith transition no matter where you hope to end up. This is also the place to laugh, cry, and love together.

I did this long ago.

Used super-special-spiritual ink, so you can only see my marks with your "Spiritual Eyes".

(Maybe I should make up a "witness" statement, and sign some folk's names to it...)
I have seen a number of tattoos on my apostate friends. Let's be clear that I have no interest in ever getting a tattoo. But with some of the jokes I have seen inked into people, having four suspiciously masonic symbols tattooed into strategically significant locations is bound to happen at some point.

But it won't be me.
I have an old ward friend who has done it. I've seen the photos. It's already happened.

How do the Polynesians get around this, do their tribal/cultural markings get a pass?

Yes, tribal markings get a pass. I had a Samoan guy in my ward with tribal tattoos. He was a faithful Mormon but did have a few tattoos. Realize, of course, that tattoos are not necessarily a "sin", just frowned upon. But this Pacific Islanders are (allegedly) descendants of Book of Mormon people they get some sort of cultural pass. I don't think that I would get a similar pass with some kind of Viking tattoo based on my Norwegian ancestry.

Another suggestion: accept that portion of this late-marriers are gay and let them marry each other.
