Sunday Morning NOMference!!

This is for encouragement, ideas, and support for people going through a faith transition no matter where you hope to end up. This is also the place to laugh, cry, and love together.

Agreed. Old white dudes of privilege have no clue about generational poverty and its effects. It's not that simple, buddy.

The endowment ceremony that was so important to restore has been changed again and again...penalties anyone?

"Christ takes the slums out of the people and they take themselves out of the slums" is an absolutely DISGUSTING idea once you dig a little deeper into it. Is he saying that poor people don't have a testimony of Christ? Is he saying that poor people are poor BECAUSE they don't have a testimony of Christ?

My husband and I did everything the church asked, served callings, fed the missionaries, PAID TITHING, and yet we have been through no fewer than TEN periods of unemployment in 19 years of marriage, lasting anywhere from two to six months, no matter how hard we prayed and fasted. Bednar and the Prosperity Gospel can go take a flying leap.

I really don't get temple work. Some people find it so uplifting. I always had to fight not to sleep. It felt like such a big waste of time.

I always felt there was some value to meditation in the celestial room, but you're not allowed to just go and meditate/pray so that was a moot point.

Anyone? Why do so many people enjoy going to such a boring, monotonous, cringy, and seemingly useless ceremony?

It was a place I could go to escape ward members when I was a bishop. The one place they couldn't bug me, so I went once a week. I just sat and thought about my own problems, and didn't pay attention. I find peace in a lot of different activities now, so I don't have much use for it.

It sounds like he is losing his voice.
Good faith does not require evidence, but it also does not turn a blind eye to that evidence. Otherwise, it becomes misplaced faith.
