Happy New Year!
Happy New Year!
Happy New Year to all of you apostates!
Can you believe this place has continued since 2016? Thanks Thayne for passing the baton.
How about we plan a NOM reunion for 2025? A place we can all get together and finally meet in person?
SLC in late spring early summer?
We can advertise on a billboard along I-15 and have a special fast for those we need to find who have moved on from Mormonism.

Re: Happy New Year!
My favorite New Years mental experiment:
Imagine you are a Jaredite. On January first you seal yourself into your barge, along with your family, livestock, barrels of live fish, hives of bees, food and water for a year (for humans and animals), and all the seeds, tools, etc. you will need to restart agriculture from scratch when you reach your destination.
Every once in the while throughout the year take a moment to imagine that you are still on that boat, tumbling in monstrous storms, illuminated only by a couple of glowing rocks. The human and animal waste is piling up. You have to pull our a cork every now and then to let in enough air to survive until the next uncorking.
Next December take a moment to celebrate your arrival in the promised land.

Happy New Year!
A get together sounds fun, let's do it.
Hagoth, is that a version of the stoic exercise of imagining the worst possible things so you are more grateful for your life?

Don't forget: You can't actually tell which way is "up" and have a 50% chance of pulling the wrong cork and taking on some sea-water to mix in with all that other fun stuff "piling up."Hagoth wrote: ↑Thu Jan 02, 2025 10:22 am ...

Re: Happy New Year!
You could always hope to meet Captain Nemo, the Submariner, Aquaman, and Disney Princess Ariel along this magical voyage who would lend a hand. Those thoughts would be a delight for both Mormon children and adults.
Good faith does not require evidence, but it also does not turn a blind eye to that evidence. Otherwise, it becomes misplaced faith.

Re: Happy New Year!
One of the miracles of the Jaredite voyage that generally gets overlooked is how they all washed up on the same beach at the same time after a year of being blown around by raging storms.

Happy New Year! I look forward to meeting NOM's in person. Red Ryder, thanks!

Re: Happy New Year!
Sounds good on the reunion. I'll just need a bit of advanced notice to plan. If we could do it at the Fashion Place Mall again that would be really convenient.
Yes Hagoth that is kind of a crazy story. They would probably have to make really sturdy lids to open and close for air. I was also trying to figure out how many miles per hour they would have to travel to get there in a year and it wasn't very fast--probably slower than walking speed.

Re: Happy New Year!
I always imagined the jaredite submarine excursion to be comparable to a deacons quorum scout trip with a bunch of 12 year olds. They pack 5lbs of beef jerky, 3 lbs of sugary treats, 6 gallons of Gatorade, an old compass and a map and set off on their weekend getaway.
They traverse 4 miles and then return home with stories of 25 mile hikes and an adventure of a lifetime.
