Priesthood ordinations in the N.T.
Considering how important priesthood ordination is in the Latter- day church, isn't it odd that there isn't more said about it in the New Testament. References to ordinations in the N.T. Are few and somewhat vague. Any explanations?
God is Love. God is Truth. The greatest problem with organized religion is that the organization becomes god, rather than a means of serving God.

I did some reading on this a while ago. Mormons have really co-opted the word ordination. Ordinations are mentioned several times, the most prominent being when Jesus called his disciples and said that he had chosen them and ordained them. The Hebrew word for ordination does not mean what the church wants us to think.deacon blues wrote: ↑Tue Feb 21, 2017 5:20 pm Considering how important priesthood ordination is in the Latter- day church, isn't it odd that there isn't more said about it in the New Testament. You would think that the gates to salvation and exaltation, meaning the priesthood would be talked about in the NT a little more. Especially since we claim to have restored the same church that Christ had.

Good faith does not require evidence, but it also does not turn a blind eye to that evidence. Otherwise, it becomes misplaced faith.

(5) To appoint ceremonially to the ministerial or priestly office, to confer holy orders on. This later technical or ecclesiastical sense is never found in English Versions of the Bible. The nearest approach is (4) above, but the idea of formal or ceremonial setting-apart to office (prominent in its modern usage) is never implied in the word.moksha wrote: ↑Wed Feb 22, 2017 4:32 am Here is a lengthy set of definitions for the word Ordain:
