Ultra-quick summary of conference?

I missed ALL of it except a few minutes of the lady who followed Holland Sunday morning (and from what I heard I liked what she was saying, except for the primary voice). Instead I went to Mormonpalooza, an alternative conference for fringe-sters. Excellent talk by Lindsay Hansen Park!

Can someone provide a few sentences that summarize the conference for those of us who skated past? Thanks!

I find this accurately covers most conferences. I was pleased that my entire family did not watch or listen to one second of conference….and I feel fantastic.

As an indicator of just how far I've fallen, I didn't even follow the NOM conference threads this time around. In the past, I've at least read those, both because they are entertaining and because I wanted to be alerted of any particularly good or surprising talks and read those ones. In part so that I can give the impression of having paid at least some attention to General Conference when talking to family.

I do think this conference was more “blah, blah, covenant path, blah blah blah” than most. I mean, there were no outstandingly bad talks. Usually after conference the blogernacle is abuzz with discussion of some horrible talk, and NOMs are discussing Oaks horrible talk and if -3,000 is to high of a NOMference score for him. Well, this conference, there was just not much worth complaining about. There were a few good talks, but nothing to trigger a lot of discussion. It was just kind of bland and boring, and that is good in a way, because there was nothing to really get upset about.

Overall it was pretty meh. I think on Mormon Stories Podcast they called it benign. I'm going to make the list of talks and scores in a sec.

Like For Strength of Youth. The new one is light years better than the one I grew up with in the 90s. It is no where near perfect. But they way they just present it without apologizing for the really harmful sh!t that was in the past versions is just wrong. FSOY caused a lot of people a lot of pain and the church needs the own that.

What "the Lord's unchanging standards" in the FSOY did to myself, my wife, and our children was so incredibly damaging. Uchtdorf did what the church typically does which is to whitewash the change, pretend that the previous stuff didn't really exist and move on with plausible deniability. I do think it is more in line with what he actually believed anyways but he has to gaslight the previous version. This was actually very triggering for my wife and I.
